[Updated]
With less than 2 days to go, Apple has put up the banner for the Let's Talk iPhone event at the Town Hall auditorium at its headquarters in Cupertino, California, which is going to be the venue for the big media event.Apple is expected to unveil the next generation iPhone, a new entry level iPhone 4 and the new iPod product line. Apple is also expected to announce the release date for its next generation mobile operating system - iOS 5 and iCloud - its new cloud based service. There have been several speculations about Apple's decision to hold the event at the Town Hall auditorium at its headquarters rather than the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) in San Francisco, which has been typically used for such big media events. Some believe that it is probably because Apple is only planning to launch iPhone 4S and not a redesigned iPhone 5, while some feel that Apple's new CEO Tim Cook who will be presiding over the event is more comfortable with the venue. According to Packowski of AllThingsD the reason for the potential change in venue was probably because the release date was too much of a moving target to risk booking a large space like YBCA.Checkout the photo of the banner that has been put up at the Town Hall auditorium:
The banner reminded us that we didn't delve over the invitation last time round. At times Apple has used the invite to give us cryptic hints as to what it is going to announce at this event. So here's what we think Apple is trying to tell us - the phrase "Let's Talk iPhone" on the invite seems to suggest that Apple will be introducing its revolutionary new feature Assistant that will be powered by Siri’s impressive artificial intelligence and assistant technology and Nuance’s speech recognition technology. The graphics of the invitation/banner also shows iOS icons for Calendar, Clock, Maps, and Phone, which clearly says that Apple will be holding an event at the Town Hall auditorium at its headquarters in Cupertino, California (the Maps icon) at 10:00 am (the Clock app) on October 4th (the Calendar icon) to launch the new iPhone (the Phone icon). The "1" badge on the Phone icon is intriguing, it seems to suggest that Apple will launch only one new iPhone model (iPhone 4S or redesigned iPhone 5 along with the cheaper 8GB iPhone 4 as the new entry level model replacing iPhone 3GS) at the event and not two new iPhone models as some reports have claimed.Update:We thought we had nailed it, but reader Ziximo provides another perspective, he comments:I think it refers to 1 phone. But that means “world phone” so 1 phone to cover all the possible networks.I reckon there’ll be a iPhone 5 and a cheaper version of the iPhone 4He is probably spot on about the "1" badge on the Phone icon.Let us know what you think in the comments and don't forget to checkout our article on the new features and improvements that we can expect from the fifth generation iPhone.[image via 9 to 5 Mac]TweetRelated PostsiPhone 5 Media Event To Be Held On Apple’s Campus?Apple Holding Media Event On October 4th To Unveil iPhone 5Breaking News: Apple To Give Sneak Peak Of iPhone OS 4.0 On April 8Apple’s Photo Stream Feature Confirms Redesigned iPhone 5 With Larger Screen, Rectangular Home Button? I would have thought the ’1' meant ‘One New Message’ in relation to to the event, rather than only one phone.
October 03, 2011 at 9:46 AM ReplyHope your right, it would not be good if they just announce an iPhone 4s.
October 03, 2011 at 10:01 AM ReplyYa- “oh, and 1 more thing”
October 03, 2011 at 3:54 PM ReplyA cheaper iPhone is a good move for apple, as a lot of people don’t have the iPhone because of the price. But not releasing a redesigned iPhone could be a bad move, although, most people I know, including myself are perfectly happy with iPhone 4. I’m more excited about ios5, as I’m running beta now and it’s fantastic, the only thin I’ll miss is the new assistant feature.
October 03, 2011 at 10:11 AM ReplyThe iphone 3gs is only $50… most phones are more expensive than that. It may be outdated but in the end it can still run almost all the same apps the iphone 4 can. Most people only use they’re smart phone for email, Facebook, and texting anyway.
October 03, 2011 at 10:52 AM ReplyI think “1? is their belief on the IQ of people trying to read too much into what the one means….
October 03, 2011 at 10:12 AM ReplyBest answer yet!
October 03, 2011 at 11:34 AM ReplyI think it must be an Iphone 5, as the IOS is IOS5 when it went to 3GS it was still IOS3, Iphone 4 IOS4 etc etc…..
just my 2 pence worth
October 03, 2011 at 10:12 AM ReplyActually 3G to 3GS was 2.0 – 3.0
October 03, 2011 at 6:12 PM ReplyI think it refers to 1 phone. But that means “world phone” so 1 phone to cover all the possible networks.
I reckon there’ll be a iPhone 5 and a cheaper version of the iPhone 4
October 03, 2011 at 10:21 AM ReplyHey Ziximo, you have nailed it.
October 03, 2011 at 11:37 AM Replyspot on ziximo…

October 03, 2011 at 1:54 PM ReplyCan’t wait!!!
October 03, 2011 at 2:29 PM ReplyWould be good I’d it covered all 3G and 4G networks
Can’t wait until tomorrow
October 03, 2011 at 2:47 PM ReplyThe 1 means 1 phone to rule them all. As in it only does everything. WOW did I just steal that from PS3. Hey if it fits why not wear it.
October 03, 2011 at 5:33 PM ReplyWill iPhone hacks be live blogging the event?

Hi
- Dan Knottingham
- My Dad used to make up an area outside complete with backyard baseball batting cages, basketball hoop and everything else that could fit. When I was young I dreamed of going to the NBA. Now, I am happy to coach Little League and Steve Nash Minor Basketball!
