Well according to the iPhone Download Blog it seems that Apple is in fact ordering two sets of parts for the new iPhone 5 so this could be similar to the launch of the iPhone 3G/3GS. It seems that an Apple employee has leaked news that Apple is ordering these two sets and they continued by saying that one of these is cutting edge whilst the other is more conservative.

Now we all know that Apple won’t be mixing the two of these so it makes sense that Apple is in fact looking to bring two versions of the iPhone 5 to the market and this could perhaps be a pro version and a normal version.

This story has not been confirmed and it could be that the two sets of parts that are being ordered are for the new iPhone 5 and the new iPod touch. It is impossible to know at the moment but we must admit that the idea of a higher spec pro version iPhone 5 really does sound like a great idea and I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who will agree. What do you think; would you like to see two versions of the iPhone 5?

Google Music iPhone

Well, what do you know: Google Music for iPhone is a no-go. Google’s new cloud music service is yet another major cloud service to snub the iPhone and iOS platform, after Amazon Cloud Player recently brushed aside the iPhone in its March 2011 launch.

Can the lack of Google Music for iPhone, along with other missing services on iPhone, give Android enough of a boost to continue to eat away at iPhone’s market share?

Google Music Beta, which was unveiled today, lets you upload your music collection and play it from your tablet or mobile phone, but that does not include your iPad or iPhone.

Google Music Not on iPhone

Rather, Google Music Beta makes your music accessible on Android tablets like the Motorola Xoom, and Android phones like the Motorola Droid and HTC EVO.

The question is: can major services afford to snub iPhone and still remain popular, or is ignoring iPhone a good strategy to take down the iPhone as a leading player in the smartphone market?

Would you like to see a Google Music iPhone version?

This new Apple patent will work by steering light in a particular angel as opposed to emitting it in all directions which is what happens with idevices now. This sounds like a great idea especially if you want to stop people glancing at what you are doing on your iPhone. This patent includes systems and methods for electronically controlling the viewing angle of the display using liquid crystal optical elements.

The patent also goes on to explain how this new feature might be implemented and there could even be an option to change the viewing angel and possible turning off this privacy mode so that all users will have flexibility on how and when they would like to use this feature. It’s not fully clear how this feature will work and if it will even be a success but it really does sound promising to say the least and being able to control privacy on your iPhone is something that a lot of people would be interested in. What do you think about this? Would you use this new privacy mode if it were built into your iPhone?

Third Rail have just released a brand new case and smart battery. This is a two part system that offers the best of both worlds. You get a slim iPhone 4 case that comes with an attachable battery pack if you need a little bit more power.

The Third Rail iPhone 4 case kit costs $90 and for this you get one case and one battery. You can buy additional batteries for just $40 each. If you do buy more batteries you have the capability of stacking them to create a power hub or charge them all at the same time. This excellent case kit has a slide on smart battery and this is great because you can add extra power when you need it and then remove it when you don’t.

The slim case that you get is sleek and it comes with a high quality protective case that has a soft touch feel. The smart battery that you get with this kit can also be used as a standalone backup battery that you can use to power other devices via the USB adapter that is also included. This is a fantastic idea especially when you consider how many devices people carry around today.

The Third Rail system seems to be a big hit so far and if you are looking for a slim line iPhone 4 case and some additional power when needed then this really is the perfect choice.

Browse > Home / Computers / Cleaning Your iPhone, the easy and less expensive way

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

cleaning-iphoneIt is for obvious reasons that you should take care for your iphone, one way of which, is to know how to clean it.
Cleaning your iphone need not be that complicated or requiring some extra gadgets that can do the job. If you ask me, why would pay for such a thing when I can do it myself, and even do a better job, right?

One thing worth noting though is this, that because since the iPhone is such a unique device, and its screen is so sensitive to touch, many people don’t know how they can properly clean their iPhone without damaging it.

Of course, when you are cleaning your iPhone, you don’t want to simply wash it with any type of cleaners, because these cleaners could actually cause the iPhone to malfunction, thus giving you a defective product.

When you are cleaning your iPhone, you must ensure that you take extra care, and don’t do it if you are in a rush.  The reason behind this is because if you are lazy, or in a hurry, you may damage the inner workings of the iPhone, as well as the ever important screen.

When you are cleaning your iPhone, there are several items that you must have.  These items will allow you to effectively clean your phone without damaging the sensitive touch screen or the inner workings of your fantastic cell phone.

Here are some  list of stuffs you need before even commencing on cleaning your iphone:  water, microfiber cloth and your favorite CD to relax you and make the process enjoyable.

Make sure that you NEVER use any type of chemical agents to clean your iPhone, because these can actually hinder the way the screen interacts with you.  Once you have gathered all of the items sit down and place the water in a small cup.  With the microfiber cloth, which is available through the many various iPhone retailers, dip the corner of the cloth into the water, allowing it to become saturated with the water.

Btw, this is also a friendly reminder not to use too much water, a good way to test to see if you have enough water is to grab a piece of glass, or go to a mirror, and with the wet cloth wipe off a corner.  If there is streaming water drops coming from where you wiped the mirror, than you have too much water on the cloth and you need to dry it out some.

You want to be able to wipe your iPhone screen without having drops of water left behind.  Next, take the slightly wetted cloth and begin to wipe the screen of your iPhone in a up-and-down motion.  Do not wipe in circles, because this can leave behind smudges that are unsightly when you turn on your iPhone.

By my own experience of cleaning iphone, you may need at least 2 wipes to get your iphones cleaned to a good standard .

Obviously, the number of times of cleaning your iphone will also depend on how much you use it.  Since the screen of your phone is the interface to the entire product, then you will be using it constantly, thus the oils from your fingers will start to pile up and build a smudgy look to the screen.

What I would therefore suggest is to clean your iphones at at least twice week. Besides, a little effort goes a long way towards enjoying your cp in the many more months to come. Who knows, you  might even trade it for a good value for new and the next generation of iphones to come :)

Best iPhone Jailbreak Apps

“What are the best iPhone jailbreak apps?” is a question I get asked from time to time by readers of this blog.

After you jailbreak iPhone and you begin to browse the Cydia store for the best iPhone jailbreak apps, you quickly realize that Cydia is packed with apps, and it is not immediately obvious which are the best iPhone jailbreak apps.

That’s why I have decided to list my favorite jailbreak apps here for anyone curious about the top jailbreak apps for iPhone.

Based on my experience with several jailbroken iPhones — including my currently jailbroken iPhone 4 — I present to you the six best iPhone jailbreak apps, in my humble opinion:

Activator lets you set custom gestures and button sequences on your iPhone. For example, you can configure Activator to bring up your Contacts with a “Short Hold” of the home button, or shake the device to open any app you specify, etc. Poof lets you hide apps that you don’t use. I was always so annoyed by how I had to keep the default Weather app icon on my home screen even though I used another weather app, and the Contacts app, which I never use. With Poof, you can make icons that you don’t use disappear from your home screens.Frash brings Flash to jailbroken iPhone 4's. Even though Flash does not perform well on mobile phones and it is a big battery drainer, it is nice to have the option to run Flash on your iPhone. Frash is definitely among the top iPhone jailbreak apps considering that lack of Flash support is a big point of contention among iPhone owners.Lockdown Pro lets you put passcode locks on individual iPhone apps. I use Lockdown Pro to put a pass code on my Messages and Mail apps, for example.My3G. Ever notice how your iPhone is limited in some regards when you are on the 3G network. For example, you can’t normally watch videos in full quality over 3G — they are extremely compressed. And you can’t FaceTime over 3G. The My3G app removes this restriction by tricking the iPhone into thinking you are always on a WiFi network.LockInfo is perhaps the best iPhone jailbreak app. LockInfo makes your iPhone lock screen useful by aggregating all of your useful data on it. I use LockInfo to display the weather, my recent email, my to do list, and avatars of my favorite contacts.

These top iPhone jailbreak apps should be a good start for you if you have recently jailbroken your iPhone. Let me know in the comments what YOU think are the best iPhone jailbreak apps.

This lawsuit probably won’t surprise anyone, two iPhone customers are now suing Apple because they claim that their iPhones and iPads have been tracking their movements without their knowing or their consent. These two customers are claiming an invasion of privacy has taken place and they are going to make Apple pay.

These two men are Vikram Ajjampur who is a Florida based iPhone user and William Devite who is a New York iPad owner. These two men are taking Apple to court over the way that iOS keeps tabs on location data.

It may sound like madness and unless you have something to hide it really shouldn’t be too much of a big deal if Apple knows how often you visit McDonalds. The trouble of course is that lawyers will jump at the chance to get behind this especially when you consider the popularity of the iPhone and the fact that Apple is worth millions.

According to Steve Jobs, the iOS software does not keep track of your recent locations but I don’t think these two customers are going to be listening to him, do you?

Apple always want to use embedded SIM card for the iPhone and iPad. And, of course, operators don’t want that happen. So, rumor said Apple is planning to make a new type of SIM card that is even smaller than the current microSIM. French telecom operator Orange has publicly said they will work with Apple to make the mini SIM.

Now, AT&T wireless head Ralph de la Vega has also said the similar thing. The company have the plan to make even smaller SIM card but they didn’t mentioned it was designed for Apple, though.

Besides the SIM card thing, AT&T also said Windows Phone 7 is not selling so well. The numbers didn’t reach Microsoft’s target.

The report comes from Peter Misek who has stated that the iPhone 4S will include the dual core A5 CPU just like the iPad 2 and that it will also have improved cameras both back and front. There will also be HSPA+ support but not much is to change cosmetically.

Misek has also stated that the iPhone 4S is going to incorporate radios that will make this handset compatible with Sprint and T-Mobile in the US and the handset will also be available to China Mobile.

Misek has also reported that Apple had intended to go for the 4G jugular with the iPhone 4S but the hardware just wasn’t ready yet and this is the reason for the modest model update for this year. There are reports of multiple prototypes being tested and this has been something that has been circulated for quite some time now but it may be possible that Apple has decided against the 4G iPhone.

Leaked reports have of course been wrong before and there is absolutely no reason to believe that this report is true either. Apple have wanted 4G in their next iPhone even those real 4G is not available by carriers just yet so I guess we will have to wait and see exactly what will happen and wait for any further updates on this story.

These figures are really impressive especially when compared with other hardware numbers. The PSP only managed 200,000 on launch day and it took the Nintendo DS a week to sell 500,000 units.

Apple’s App Store also made it into the records and it has seen over 6.5 billion downloads since it launched in July of 2008. As of September 2010 there were 37,362 games in the App Store and this is a lot more than the Xbox Live Arcade which stands at 1,300. With just 145 games available on launch of the App Store Apple also received a record for the largest launch lineup. Angry Birds was the top selling iOS game with 6.5 million downloads since it launched in December 2009 and Plants Vs Zombies is the highest grossing iPod/iPhone strategy games after it made $1 million in its first week of sales.

This really is great news for Apple and it makes you wonder what records they will break next.

TCP Optimizer is available free of charge but you do have to have a jailbroken iDevice to be able to use it as it is a Cydia Tweak. Once you download TCP Optimizer from Cydia and refreshing your sources you should see it on the packages listings. This new tweak should take effect straight away without having to restart your device and you should be able to watch YouTube videos at decent speeds.

The TCP optimizer modifies a few settings inside the iOS and it allows a maximum of 16 un-ACK’d packets instead of 8 and it also sets the default package size to 1460 instead of 512. Not only will these changes speed up YouTube videos, they will also improve the overall internet performances of your iDevice.

TCP Optimizer will work with any iPhone or iPad that is running iOS 3.1.2 or above. If you have any issues the app can also be uninstalled without leaving any traces behind. Remember you do need to have a jailbroken iDevice to use this app.

Apple released an update to the iPhone OS today.  The 3.1 iPhone update brings lots of little improvements.  Don’t let iTunes tempt you with them if you have an unlocked iPhone.  The new firmware will upgrade your baseband firmware, relocking your iPhone and, potentially, making it impossible to unlock again.

The good news is that your iPhone can still have that 3.1 iPhonee goodness and your unlocked iPhone.  You just need to trust in the iPhone Dev team, because their tools provide a way to install the update without updating the baseband and breaking the unlock.

If you update to Apple’s new software using the normal iTunes process, you will lose your ultrasn0w unlock.  In fact you may lose it permanently, because for most people the baseband firmware cannot be reverted to a previous version (unlike the main application CPU firmware).

But don’t worry…our PwnageTool program lets you update your main firmware without touching your baseband firmware, so you can still have the best of both worlds.  But you must be diligent about saying “no” to your iTunes request this week to update your firmware.

As always, eliminate the middle-men and get the PwnageTool and all your iPhone accessories direct from the source.

Great news is here - iMatrix is ported into SDK version beta 3!!!

New iMatrix will be a little bit different from current toolchain based version because SDK has different set of frameworks and classes.

Simulator based application cannot handle camera attached to my Mac Mini, but it does all the rest quite well and, that is very important, according to stricts rules Apple set. No more private frameworks, no more Address book hacks; just clean and legal stuff! Next days I will publish photos of new iMatrix application... return here frequently please.

There are sad news as well. It looks like import/export of notes and Safari's bookmarks should come out... The same with Calendar...
BUT you will be surprized as well! Will say just this: iTunes, YouTube and Google Maps!

Now the story :) At first, I had to purchase new Mac Mini because OS X Leopard is vital for SDK. After some time and with the help of my collegues, I found what I looked for! After updating the system and installing SDK/Xcode I became "happy" owner of development environment for creating cool and amazing native iPhone applications! Well... then I had several weeks of hard coding and getting familiar with Xcode... It is in past now! After all, I can say that Apple did realy cool product. It is not ready and quite fresh but it works and has HUGE potential. I personally will use it for sure.

surender asked:

Smartphones are the best gadget for any corporate user. However, to select the one, fit for their corporate personality, is hard to choose from the crowd.

The article is a feature by feature comparison between BlackBerry Bold & 3G iPhone that are label as best Smartphone available in the market.

Apple iPhone 3G

The iPhone is an internet-connected multimedia Smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc, which lacks a physical keyboard, but the multi-touch screen renders a virtual keyboard when necessary. It functions as a camera phone, a portable media player and an Internet client. The Apple iPhone 3G is known as the Smartphone that is best in multimedia.

BlackBerry Bold

The BlackBerry Bold aka 9000, the first 3G BlackBerry, launched in the U.S. in November of 2008, is a mobile phone data device, which is considered as one of the best in BlackBerry series.

Comparison of features:

Microprocessor: BlackBerry has 624MHz Intel PXA270/Marvell Tavor PXA930 processor, up from 312MHz, whereas iPhone has Samsung ARM 1176JZ(F)-S v1.0 620 MHz under-clocked to 412 MHz, 32-bit RISC processor.

Operating System: Bold runs BlackBerry OS 4.6, whereas iPhone 3G has iPhone OS 2.2.1.

WLAN: BlackBerry has 802.11a/b/g plus good GPS, typically a tradeoff with BBs, while iPhone supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g.

Resolution:  BlackBerry has 480 x 320 resolution screen with 65,000 colors, whereas iPhone sports 480×320 px, 3.5 in (89 mm), 3:2 aspect ratio, 262,144-color LCD touch-screen.

SMS/MMS: In the Apple iPhone 3G Smartphone, you can only send SMS. Where-as in the BlackBerry, you can send both SMS and MMS.

Memory: The memory that is installed in the Apple is 16 GB where as in the BlackBerry it is 64MB only. In BlackBerry, MicroSD expansion is available where as in Apple it is absent.

Applications: RIM has made a lot of noise about its BlackBerry App World store, whereas Apple recently celebrated its 1 billionth App Store download.

Screen: The Apple has a touch screen and whatever information you are inputting has to be done through that, where as a BlackBerry comes fully equipped with a QWERTY keypad. In the Apple phone the size of the screen is 3.5 inches where as it is 2.5 inches in the BlackBerry.

Camera: In both devices, the resolution of the digital camera is 2 megapixels.

Speakers: The Apple comes in with speakers that are built in. The BlackBerry also comes with inbuilt speakers, but they also come with a 3.5mm stereo jack.

Battery Life: The life of the battery of the BlackBerry is higher than the Apple phones battery life as there is no touch screen and resolution of screen is less.

Location support: BlackBerry has Gokivo Navigator and iPhone provides Google Maps.

Discussion

As usual, you cannot get all the features in one gadget, for e.g. in the BlackBerry the features like the alarm clock; calendar, digital zoom is available where as such features are not available in the Apple. Also, you can do cut and paste text between apps in BlackBerry, while iPhone lacks it. One more thing you miss in the iPhone is opening a zipped attachment, which is present in the BlackBerry Bold.

But, the 16GB memory, rotational ability, touch screen, use of accelerometer for motion detection, Safari browser’s support, larger screen and easy apps downloads from the application store makes it better Smartphone than any other.

The most important function for a corporate executive is E-mailing.  BlackBerry has become the Lotus Notes of the mobile world for providing secure e-mail anywhere on the move.

Also, the iPhone works directly with Exchange, so you can e-mail, e-mail folders, calendars, and contacts all flowed effortlessly among the iPhone, laptop, and server. The configuration was trivial.

It is important to note that BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) supports Novell GroupWise and Lotus Notes, while both of those servers support the iPhone only through Web clients, limiting their integration with other iPhone apps such as Contacts and Calendar. Thus, BlackBerry supports more e-mail systems, even though you have to add a dedicated server to get that support.

In the security front, organizations running BlackBerrys can trust as if a BlackBerry is lost, IT can wipe all of its data and render it useless over the air. Apple also provides more iPhone security capabilities than most people realize, but it still does not have the depth of messaging and device security that the BlackBerry does.

NOTE: Good news and bad news… I finally, after three attempts, got the jailbreak to stick, but am having issues with even getting Cydia to load data.

I am not sure what the issue is, or when I will have time to fix it, but will do my best to keep you posted.
—————————————————————————-
Good news! You, dear 3G and 2G user, may now jailbreak your little device for 3.1!

Sorry, 3GS and iPod touch. You’re not invited to the party. Yet.

Also, one more caveat, you have to have Max OS to get er done, as it were.

The Dev-Team has released notes on how to do it here.

You’ll need Pwnage, which you can download here (official bit torrent download)

and the appropriate IPSW which you may find here…

iPhone 3G:
iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 2G:
iPhone1,1_3.1_7C144_Restore.ipsw

Create a Custom Restore IPSW through Pwnage – Make sure to select expert and deselect the “Activate Phone” option – this is what tripped me up the first time. Once that is complete (roughly 5 minutes) put the phone into DFU mode then open iTunes and hold Option when you click Restore – browse for the custom restore IPSW you just created and sync as normal.

The sync can take upwards of 15 minutes.

Enjoy your newly updated iPhone.

Remember, Installer Apps takes no responsibility for any mishap that may occur during jailbreaking, so proceed with caution.

I also HIGHLY recommend you review Dev-Team’s Blog before proceeding. Make sure you’ve got the right IPSW and right device for this. Their blog can be a bit heady for some, so feel free to comment here if you have any questions. I’ll gladly walk you through as best I can.
