The mysterious and semi-mythical white iPhone 4 just can't catch a break. First Apple acknowledges the phone won't see stores before this Spring; now Cult of Mac is reporting that the reason may not be a manufacturing issue at all. Instead, the phone's white case and the rear-facing camera may be interacting in a downright uncooperative way.
The CoM source suggests that the white iPhone case leaks light into the camera sensor, resulting in washed-out photos regardless of the subject lighting. The problem was supposedly identified very late in the game at Apple's testing center that qualifies cases for use with the phone.
Considering that the tick-tock of phone releases means we'll likely see another iPhone model over the summer anyway, it doesn't seem too far-fetched to stand with Boy Genius Report and their source that says the iPhone 4 will never ship in white. The hypothesis/inside info is that another delay would be announced in March, leading to the white 4 being superceded by the white 5.
If you're waiting for a white iPhone 4 -- really now -- please stop holding your breath.

Here's some code to initialize the accelerometer to run at full speed. Pass the desired sample rate (in Hz) to the initialize function. Go wild!

By now you've seen our photos of the PlayStation Phone, and likely you've also heard the scattered reports of debunkings and cries of "fake!" -- it wouldn't be a scoop without it. Only here's the thing: the PlayStation Phone in the photos we ran last night, and the device reported on back in August is most definitely real. We're not saying that because we want to believe or because we're gingerly trying to nab pageviews: we're saying it because we know it to be true. This is a device which has been confirmed through multiple, trusted sources. And we're not just talking good tipsters -- some of our information comes from people much more closely connected to the project. Even since last night we've received more info about the phone -- learning that its codename is "Zeus," and it was last seen running Android 2.X (not 3.0, which we suspect will be the shipping version). It should be obvious by comparison of our original mockup to the real photos we've just uncovered that the handset we described in August is the same handset now fully revealed. Prior to last night, we had never seen an actual image of the phone. It should also be obvious that the device pictured in those photos is a prototype running early software (which would explain the A / B button mention in the photo above) with hardware that was likely hand-built, or at the very least created in a very small batch.
Based on what we've heard about the secrecy of this plan, it makes sense that even Sony's own employees wouldn't be privy to information on the phone, the marketplace, and the collaboration with Google. The alleged Sony response to the device makes that somewhat clear -- reports state that an employee originally told a publication that the images were fake, only to backtrack and deliver the standard corporate line that the company "doesn't respond to rumor and speculation." It's possible that whomever was originally questioned either didn't know of the device's existence, was lying about its existence, or simply had their response taken out of context. And that brings us to our point -- while there will be plenty of speculation on whether or not what we've shown you is real, we would never run the images or the information without a healthy sense that we were bringing you fact, and not fiction. We don't like to boast, but as the guys and girls who brought you the first pictures and review of the Nexus One, the first details and images of the Dell Venue Pro (aka Lightning), the first pictures of the new MacBook Air, the first photos of the iPad, and the first photos of the iPhone 4, we feel pretty confident in our abilities to deliver the goods. Of course, this story is just beginning -- so hold on tight.

The hottest toy in the UK this year isn't a stuffed animal or a dress-up doll -- it's an Apple device. The top three spots on a list of most-wanted gifts in the UK were taken by Apple's iOS devices, with 39% of kids and parents polled saying that iPhones, iPods, and iPads were wanted under the tree this year. Not that they need it -- the same survey found that kids today also had 39 different toys and games to play with -- more than twice as many as their parents had when they were younger. The iPhone 4 comes in at the top of the list (naturally, contract included, it's the most expensive of them all), followed by the iPod touch and the iPad. Microsoft's Kinect system for Xbox and Playstation's Move controller are also on the list, further down, and the Flip video camera makes an appearance as well.
Of course, these are wishlists, not actual gift purchases -- just because kids want the iPhone 4 doesn't mean Santa is going to shell out for it.

That’s a big relief for all developers on iPhone and iPod Touch who would be able to continue work on the SDK and release on both platforms.
Apparently, the iTablet will have the iPhone OS 3.2 as a start, let’s see tonight for the official launch!!!

That’s how we see the situation anyway.

If you've been holding off on buying an iPhone 4 because you were waiting for the white version, you may as well give up and go black. Reuters reports that the white iPhone 4 has been delayed until spring of next year. If you've been paying attention at all over the past few years, you'll know that's only a few months before the iPhone 5 will likely come out, so waiting for a white iPhone 4 really doesn't make any sense now.
Apple hasn't given any reason for the delay, and the news seems doubly odd since the white iPhone 4 showed up in the update for Apple's dedicated app for their retail stores this morning. Rumor has it that Apple's manufacturers can't get the iPhone 4 exactly the shade of white the company wants. Who else thinks it's odd that Apple used to make just about everything in white, but the iPhone 4 somehow can't make the grade?

Apple released an update to the iPhone OS today. The 3.1 iPhone update brings lots of little improvements. Don’t let iTunes tempt you with them if you have an unlocked iPhone. The new firmware will upgrade your baseband firmware, relocking your iPhone and, potentially, making it impossible to unlock again.
The good news is that your iPhone can still have that 3.1 iPhonee goodness and your unlocked iPhone. You just need to trust in the iPhone Dev team, because their tools provide a way to install the update without updating the baseband and breaking the unlock.
If you update to Apple’s new software using the normal iTunes process, you will lose your ultrasn0w unlock. In fact you may lose it permanently, because for most people the baseband firmware cannot be reverted to a previous version (unlike the main application CPU firmware).
But don’t worry…our PwnageTool program lets you update your main firmware without touching your baseband firmware, so you can still have the best of both worlds. But you must be diligent about saying “no” to your iTunes request this week to update your firmware.
As always, eliminate the middle-men and get the PwnageTool and all your iPhone accessories direct from the source.
Following Apple’s announcement that the white iPhone 4 model will be delayed until next year, there’s now a new and very wild rumor coming from TBGR – according to a source of theirs the white iPhone 4 was not delayed but rather got canceled altogether.
If that’s true, did Apple maybe mean that an upgraded model of the iPhone 4 will be available next spring (how about one of the iPhone prototypes currently being tested we’ve heard of, say iPhone 3,2)? …and could that maybe have something to do with the iPhone 4’s “death grip” engineering flaw?
After all it’s hard to imagine that Apple, a company that has no problem making iPods of all colors of the rainbow suddenly has a problem making white casings for the iPhone 4.

Apple launched a Chinese-language version of its online store today with all of Apple's product lineup in place, including the online-only (PRODUCT) RED iPod nano, and a selection of third-party products.
In addition to this, a Simplified Chinese version of the App Store was rolled out with localized apps and the most popular paid and free apps in China.
The top paid iPhone app in the Chinese app store is Cartoon Wars 2: Heroes. You'll find your Angry Birds fix all the way down at #7.

With the end of Deutsche Telekom’s iPhone exclusivity in Germany, Apple has begun selling the iPhone directly from its Online Store in that country both contract-free and unlocked. This mirrors how Apple has been selling the iPhone in other countries such as Canada where multiple carrier options are available. German customers can now purchase the 8GB iPhone 3GS for €519, and the 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4 for €629 and 739€, respectively. Unlike some of the other countries, however, Apple will not be supplying micro-SIM cards for iPhones ordered directly from the Apple Online Store in Germany, instead directing customers to obtain a micro-SIM directly from their cellular provider of choice. Further, Vodafone and O2 have also now begun selling the iPhone directly in Germany alongside Deutsche Telekom, and Apple’s German web site now directs customers to all three of these carriers for contract iPhone purchases or micro-SIM cards.
